The Academy One

A Residential Tournament
For Academy Teams

The Academy One is a three-day, two-night residential tournament for academy and elite youth teams, held on a single campus at Oakham School in Rutland.

Squads can arrive from 12:30 on day one and eat lunch on arrival, then check in to their boarding houses and prepare for the opening round of group matches between 16:00 and 18:00, followed by supper in hall and a team debrief back in the house.

Day two runs a full programme of group fixtures, with the pool, gym and optional 3v3 battles timetabled around your games. Day three is breakfast, check-out, knockout rounds and the presentation — finished by lunchtime.

Most academy events give you one thing or the other: a hard day's football with everyone dispersing at full time, or a bespoke tour of friendlies with no jeopardy. The Academy One gives your squad a genuine competition and the residential weekend that turns it into a camp.

How Booking Works
Places are allocated first come, first served. We can hold your place for two weeks. Payment in full is then due by BACS against an invoice, which we issue with your entry pack.

Need To Know

Who supervises the players overnight? +
Squads are supervised by their own club staff, who are accommodated in the same boarding house, in separated adult-specific rooms. Tournament staff and school boarding staff are on site throughout. All tournament personnel are DBS-checked and a designated safeguarding lead is contactable for the duration of the event.
What is the match format? +
Maximum game time is 20 minutes each way. Groups run on day one and day two, with knockout and plate rounds on day three, so no team's weekend ends early. The exact format is confirmed once entries close and depends on the age group and the number of teams entered.
What surface are matches played on? +
All fixtures are played on grass.
Can parents and families attend? +
Yes. Spectators are welcome at all fixtures. Families arrange their own accommodation locally and we can send a recommended list. Meals and boarding are for registered players and staff only.
What do players need to bring? +
Two kit variations, training kit, appropriate footwear for grass, swimwear for the pool, towel and toiletries, and any prescribed medication declared on the medical form. A full kit list is issued with the fixture pack.
When do we get fixtures? +
The fixture pack, kit list and full timings are issued the week before the tournament.
We're travelling from overseas — can you help with logistics? +
Yes. International squads can extend the stay either side of the tournament, and we can arrange coach transfers, additional training slots and add-on experiences. Speak to us before booking flights.
